Welcome to the Monsignor Charles K. Kennedy Assembly website. We are a Fourth Degree Assembly of the Knights of Columbus located in Lancaster, California.

On Nov. 15, 1928, Fr. Charles Kennedy was named pastor of Sacred Heart Church in Lancaster. In 1936, Fr. Kennedy enlarged the first church which had been built at the Parish’s establishment in 1890 and in 1953, he began work on plans for a new church to meet the growing needs of his ever increasing flock. The new (and current) church was dedicated and blessed by His Eminence Cardinal James Francis McIntyre on Sunday, October 28, 1956. Fr. Kennedy remained at Sacred Heart for almost 40 years, spending all but 3 years of his priesthood at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. In 1967, Fr. Kennedy was invested with the church title of right Reverend Monsignor. Father Kennedy died on February 11, 1968 at the age of 74. After the death of Msgr. Kennedy, in his first year as the new pastor Fr. Charles Dachtler oversaw the building of a new Parish hall which was named “Kennedy Hall”, dedicated to Msgr. Kennedy’s memory. The Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Assembly #73 was instituted on January 1st, 1960, and named in honor of Monsignor Kennedy.
